The Project

A new quarry with a different production process.

Arro began working with CBM Aggregates during the 2026 season as CBM opened a new quarry location.

What makes this operation different is where the crushing process begins.

The limestone is blasted while submerged in water.

The blasted rock is then dredged from the water and delivered to Arro for crushing.

Jared describes the operation as unusual in Ontario. While sand and gravel are commonly recovered from water, this operation involves actual blasted limestone being dredged and processed.

From Blast To Finished Aggregate

Every part of production affects the next.

At this quarry, crushing doesn't operate in isolation.

The amount and condition of material reaching Arro depends on what is happening upstream.

That makes coordination important.

Arro and CBM work together to align the drilling, blasting, dredging, and crushing operations so each stage can support the next and production can continue moving through the quarry.

The Challenge

The rock comes out wet. The product still has to perform.

Material recovered directly from the water introduces another variable into crushing and screening.

Wet feed can behave differently through a crushing spread, but the production requirements don't disappear because the material is difficult.

The operation still needs tonnes. The finished material still has requirements. The crushing spread still needs to keep moving material.

During the 2026 season, Arro has successfully processed the wet-blasted limestone while keeping the finished material within specification and meeting monthly production targets.

Figuring Out A New Operation Together

Not every job comes with a playbook.

At the beginning of the season, there were unknowns around how the first year of the new quarry would operate.

That required cooperation between CBM and Arro as the teams worked through the realities of drilling, blasting, dredging, wet material, crushing, and finished-product requirements.

The result has been a production process that Jared describes as being off to a strong start.

More importantly, it demonstrates what a good contract crushing relationship can look like when both sides work together to solve the problems that come with a new operation.
